The piquillo peppers made by Espinaler are roasted over a direct flame, giving them a sweet and smokey flavour. They are authentic piquillo peppers since they originate from Lodosa, a little town in the Navarre area of northern Spain on the banks of the river Ebro. A protected indication of origin for the piquillo pepper includes the town. Known as the "red gold of Navarre", we suggest tasting them on toasted bread topped with cream cheese and anchovies or as part of a tapa that includes boiled potatoes, mustard-flavored mayo, and mackerel fillets.
